William Blair Lahew, 87, of Rogersville, died at 7:25 p.m. Friday, November 6, 1998, in Wilson Personal Care Home, Rogersville.
He was born November 23, 1910, in Franklin Township, Greene County, a son of David T. and Helen Belford Lahew.
Mr. Lahew spent his entire life in Greene County and was Protestant. He was a World War II and Korean conflict veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. He worked as a coal miner at various mines before retiring in 1972. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 of Waynesburg, Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461 and United Mine Workers of America Local 6330.
Mr. Lahew was twice married. His first wife, Margaret Dillenger Lahew, is deceased. His second wife, Gertrude Cox Lahew, whom he married March 8, 1940, died May 23, 1995.
Surviving are five daughters, Connie Loughman of Sycamore R.D.1, Joanne Medlick of Mather, Carolyn Mankey of Prosperity, Pamela Jane Lahew of Holbrook and Lee Ann Rohrer of Florida; four sons, William Jack Lahew of Paducah, Ky., Stanley David Lahew of Cameron, W.Va., Jeffrey Blair Lahew of Waynesburg R.D.5 and Terry Varner of Marietta, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert E. Lahew of Mt. Morris Star Route, Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are seven sisters, Mary and Marleadean Lahew, Winifred Barna, Viola Pyle, Anna Furman, Freida O'Rourke and Betty Bardon; and four brothers, Theodore, David, Ross and Jack Lahew.
