FUNERAL OF W. E. MATLICK
The funeral of W. E. Matilick, who died at Los Angeles, Sept. 4, was held Sunday, Sept. 12, at 3:30 p. m. from the St. Paul's Evangelical church. Services were conducted by Rev. Ira T. Gragg, assisted by Benj. M. Matlick. Singers were Misses Harriet Whitehead and Almeda Hardy and Messrs. Elbert Hays and David Evans, with Mrs. Henry Mohr, accompanist. The pallbearers were: R. L. Woodruff, Dr. Paul Witt Winfield Stevenson, Frank E. Greenlee, Russell Neloon and W. E. Bell. Honorary pallbearers were lumbermen of this territory, including John Wiegner and Walter Hopkins of Memphis, Harvey Beech and son, I. C. Beeach of Keokuk, Iowa; Edward Miller and Clarence Jones of Donnellson, Iowa; Lloyd Seward of Revere; Glen Larson of Wayland; Roy Seifert of Ft. Madison, Iowa; Cecil Hartman of Kahoka; and H. G. Garretts of Quincy, Ill. Among others from a distance in attendance were Mrs. W. E. Matlick and Benj. M. Matlick of Glendale,Cal.; Mr. Matlick's three sisters, Mrs. George Rex, and Mrs. Gertrude Golden of Raytown; and Mrs. Bessie Shephard of Peculiar, Mo.; also Mr. Rex of Raytown; Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Branson of Canton; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Matlick, Miss Bertha Matlick and Mrs. J. C. Carothers of Kirksville; William Wright of Salisbury; Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Childers and children Lola and Victor and Mrs. Della Myers of Fabius; Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Wiegner and Chauncey Wiegner and Mr. Hicks of Memphis; Glen Lowe of Ft. Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Ewart of Williamstown; Rev. and Mrs. Ira T. Gragg of St. Louis, and William Wright of Salisbury. A son, Jos. Matlick of Glendale, and a brother, Frank Matlick of Bishop, Cal., were unable to attend the funeral. The body was returned to the Karle Mortuary awaiting cremation.
