CHARLES F. JARVIS
Charles Franklin, son of William and Mary Jarvis was born January 20, 1870 at Grove City, Iowa and passed from this life July 17, 1954 at the Booe Nursing Home in Villisca after failing health for several years. He was preceded in death by his son Frank, Oct. 1933, his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Hartsock and Mrs. Sarah McKinley; and one brother Allen Jarvis. On November 20, 1892, he was united in marriage to Miss Ida Mae DeWees of Carbon, IA, by the late Rev. A. Y. Cupp. To this union were born two sons, Frank A. and Harry E. His education was acquired in the school at Quincy, where he spent his life while young. Mr. Jarvis spent the greater part of his life in Adams and Montgomery Counties, except for a few years in Mt. Ayer and Fontanelle, IA. Most of his life was devoted to the milling and merchandise business. He moved to Grant in 1912 where he was in business until his health failed and retired in 1949. His qualities of honesty, sincerity and trustfulness were marked. He was a loving husband and father and in return received the same devotion from his family. He counted his friends by his acquaintances. Those left in bereavement are his devoted wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jarvis of Omaha. The grandchildren; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Jarvis of Grant, Miss Dee Jarvis of Omaha and two great grandchildren, Nancy and Gregory Jarvis of Grant. He is survived also by 3 sisters, Mrs. Jennie Busby of Missouri Valley, Mrs. Fannie Cozad of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Fred Carothers of Nodaway, Iowa; and a sister in law Mrs. Louis Miller of Boone, IA; and a number of neices and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral Services were conducted Monday July 19 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca at 2:00 PM. In charge Rev. A. Breeling, assisted by Rev. F. Dennis of Grant. Music by Cecil Weaver with Mrs. Martin Taylor at the piano. Casket bearers were nephews Earl, Russell and Floyd Cozad, Ralph Brown, Fred Miller and Kenneth Ryan. Interment in Quincy Cemetery.
