"Henry Butt, living in the south part of Steuben Township, Warren County, was thrown from his wagon in a runaway last Friday and his skull so badly crushed that he died on Saturday. He had formerly lived at Williamsport, but moved about a year ago to Steuben Township. He was picked up and carried to the home of James McAlister, near whose residence the accident occurred. Dr. Swank was called and he found that his collar bone was broken and that serious injuries had been sustained about the head, the skull being fractured. The sufferer was brought to the home of his son-in-law in Williamsport, James Horn. He was unconscious and remained so until death came about midnight Saturday night. The funeral occurred Monday afternoon at 2 at the Horn residence, Rev. Wilmer officiating. The remains were laid at rest in Hillside cemetery. Henry Butt was born at Dayton Ohio, about 73 years ago. The family came to Indiana and settled in Fountain county when he was a boy. At the age of 21 he was married and after living in Fountain county for a number of years they came to Warren county where Mr. Butt resided up to the time of his death. A few years ago he located on Redwood, west of West Lebanon where he and four of his children resided. He was the father of thirteen children, eight by his first wife and five by a second. His second wife died a number of years ago. Thought uneducated he was sharp and witty; always ready with a quick and witty reply.
