Gertie Bruxvoort Kreun was born to Brand and Dirkje Veldhuizen Bruxvoort on January 26, 1892 at Ede, The Netherlands. She came to America with her family in 1895 and was united in marriage to Carl Kreun on January 24, 1912 at Crookston, Minnesota. To this union 14 children were born. They lived at Gary, Minn. until they moved to their farm home west of Chandler in 1917. Carl passed away December 1, 1940 and Gertie moved to Chandler in 1944. She was a member of the Chandler Reformed Church where she took an active part in the Guild for Christian Service.
She passed away at the Murray County Memorial Hospital on January 4, 1972 at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 9 days.
She is survived by ten children, Johanna, Mrs. Arie Pals, Edgerton; Brant, Chandler; Durky, Mrs. Reinart Baar, Leota; Jeanette, Mrs. James Vander Heide, Bellflower, Calif.; Caroline, Mrs. Edward Schierbeek, Holland, Michigan; Henry, Iona, Minn.; Betty, Mrs. Henry W. Van Essen, Leota; Edith, Mrs. Harold VandeBunte, Holland, Mich.; Charles, Holland, Michigan; and Priscilla, Mrs. Clifford Christians, Urbana, Ill. Also surviving are 5 brothers, two sisters, 53 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, her daughter, Adrianna, Mrs. Vernon Roelofs, deceased December 24, 1956; her son William, deceased Dec. 17, 1963, two infant sons, her parents, 6 sisters and 2 grandchildren.
