Elisabeth Scott Moore was the daughter of John & Sarah W. (Prior) Moore.

She married George Washington Brown on 22 Dec 1868 in Perry Co., OH. They had at least four children, all born in Bearfield Twp., Perry Co., OH:

- John James Brown (1870-1934)
- Sarah Eva Brown (1871-bef 1900)
- William Preston Brown (1873-1943)
- Lydia Lou Brown Ihinger (1877-1927)

George died in 1878 at the age of 32y, 10m, 21d from remitting fever. Elisabeth never remarried, and raised all four children on her own. She lived with her oldest son, John James, for many years, and died in his home after a lengthy stay in the hospital for a fractured hip.

Elizabeth S. Brown

The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Scott Brown, aged 81, occurred at the family home at Briar Hill Wednesday night. She had been ailing for the past three months, having returned from the Bethesda hospital three weeks ago. Three children survive: John J. Brown of Briar Hill, William Brown of Millfield, and Mrs. Louise Ihinger of Roseville. Funeral services will be held Sunday morning, directed by the C. L. Chute Co. Burial will be made at New Lexington.

NOTE: While the obituaries show her name written as "Elizabeth", she signed her name as "Elisabeth" on legal documents.
