Miss Arlene "Jack" Grimes, age 88 of Rockmart passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

Miss Grimes was born on August 5, 1922 in Polk County, daughter of the late Eunice Cambron Grimes and the late Glover Grimes. She retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and past member of the Polk County Historical Society.

Miss Grimes was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart for 75 years where she taught the Beginners Sunday School Class for more than 40 years, was a member of the Golden Age and served as secretary of the church WMU group. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Louise Greene and her husband Howard; and by her brother, Mr. R. J. Grimes, Sr. and his wife Mary.

Survivors include nieces, Betty Culver and Cathy Matthews of Rockmart, Judy Stoyle of Taylorsville and Millie Grimes of Carrollton; nephews, R. J. Grimes, Jr. and his wife Marsha of Pleasanton, CA and Robert Grimes and his wife Julie of Taylorsville; and great nieces and nephews, Susan Culver, Bob Culver and wife Joy, Anna Williams and husband Andy and Rebecca Grimes all of Rockmart, Butch Culver of Emerson, Amanda Woods, Sara Dodson and Mary Katherine Grimes all of Taylorsville, Kenny Grimes and wife Katy of Pleasanton, CA and Emmy Grimes of Santa Barbara, CA. Fifteen great-great-nieces and nephews and seventeen great-great-great-nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Miss Grimes will be held on Thursday, March 24th at 1:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Rockmart with the Rev. Greg Thompson officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery.

The following nephews, great-nephews and great-great-nephews will serve as pallbearers: Robert Grimes, Bob Culver, Butch Culver, Andy Williams, Bryan Culver, Chris Culver, Lucas Culver, Drew Williams, Nick Culver, Hank Woods, Davis Carlton, Devin Durocher and Mason Durocher will serve as pallbearers.
