On June 20, 1942, Harold married Marlys Christianson in Yuma, AZ. The couple lived in San Diego, CA where they worked on B-25 bombers until the war ended.
Harold and Marlys then moved to Minneapolis where he worked for the VA Hospital for four years before they moved to Sioux Falls in 1948. In Sioux Falls Harold worked for the John Morrell Company for a brief time before taking a job at B & W Cabinets.
Harold then returned to Morrell's in 1952 where he worked in the smoked meat department for 25 years retiring in 1977.
In his free time Harold enjoyed cars, playing the harmonica for his friends at Edgewood Vista and traveling to Florida to see family.
Above all he loved to spend time with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by all those who shared his life.
Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Sharon (Francis) Eliason, Tampa, FL; son, Paul Mickelson, Sioux Falls; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and sisters, Ida Goodroad, Brookings, SD, Wilma Gerth, Watertown, SD, and Erlis Anderson, Astoria, SD.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlys; infant son, Steven; sisters, Merle, Julia, Gladys and Gilma; and brothers, Arnold and Miner.
