US Congressman. Born near Carey, Ohio, he attended Ohio Wesleyan University, graduated from the law department of Cincinnati College, in 1857, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. He was prosecuting attorney of Wyandot County, and Mayor of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, in 1864. In 1873, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-third Congress, serving until 1875. Declining to be a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, until his death at age 46.
