Emil "Shorty" Schonherr, 79, Riverside and Cherokee, died Sunday in St. John Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1895, in Germany, the son of August and Augusta Fischer Schonherr. He lived most of his life at Leavenworth. He was employed at Helmer Manufacturing Company, Dresser Sand Company and the Bell Laundry.
Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Mary L. Mays, Raymore, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Martha Carter, 116 Olive; four grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and a step-granddaughter.
The funeral arrangements will be announced by Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel, Fifth and Oak. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Emil came to America with his family on June 17, 1896 from Stettin, Germany to New York on the ship Virginia. He was 11 months old.
