Betty was a charming, pretty female calico cat born in the mid 1990's and adopted at about 3 years old by my maternal grandmother.
She was put down to end her suffering on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 at the Franklin Animal Shelter in Farmington, Maine after a couple months worth of total blindness, losing weight, and inability to take care of herself anymore.
It was for the best. Betty was about 17 years old, close to the same age as myself. A cat of 17 human years is about 85 years in cat years, so she lived to be a old old lady. :)
