Lifelong Willow Grove resident Royce "Sonny" Wenner, 78, passed away July 19, 2011, at the Hospice Care Center.

He was born July 12, 1933, in Aberdeen, to Royce and Ora Mae (Weese) Wenner. He graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1952.

On July 4, 1962, he married Carolyn Harp. She survives him at home.

Sonny served in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He worked at Weyerhaeuser in the paper mill for 34 years, retiring as a stock prep operator. He was head of security for 13 years at Timber Trails Campground in Salkum, Wash. He enjoyed helping people and will be missed. He enjoyed having coffee with friends at the Woodshed, hunting, telling jokes and making light of situations.

In addition to his wife, Carolyn, he is survived by a son, Rick Wenner of Longview; two daughters, Linda Lee in Florida and Carla Davis (Scott) of Longview; a sister, Dorrie Graner (Wyman) of Moses Lake, Wash.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family, Ron and Penny Smith and their two children of Toutle.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Wenner in 2005.

A celebration of Sonny's life is planned for 2 p.m. Aug. 6 at Timber Trails Campground, 1988 Spencer Road, in Salkum, Wash.
