Bessie Vacek, 92 of El Campo, passed away on March 28, 2011. She was born on June 26, 1918 in El Campo to the late Frank and Albina Ripple Stokr. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughter's of America Court #1374, KJZT, and had served with the Sunshine Ladies and St. John's Altar Society for a number of years.

She is survived by her daughter Jan Bahnsen and husband Gene of Wharton, sons Robert F. Vacek and wife Mary of Conroe, Tom J. Vacek of Austin, Michael F. Vacek and wife Catherine of Austin and Joe D. Vacek and wife Laurice of El Campo, sister Lillian Savino of El Campo, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe F. Vacek and sister Evelyn Howard.

Visitation will begin at 11 am on Wednesday with a Parish and Catholic Daughter Rosary to be recited at 7 pm at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are "Bo" David Bahnsen, Billy Bahnsen, Ryan Vacek, Curtis Vacek, Cody Vacek and Thomas Lane Vacek. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Memorials in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, St. Philip's School General Fund or to the Sunshine Ladies.
