Herbert Herbert, 90, was born in Veneta, Oregon.

He graduated from Tri-Angle Lake High School and joined the military in April 1939. He was a decorated veteran of WWII and Vietnam, receiving the bronze star. During WWII he was assigned to an artillery unit and after the war he went into the Counter Intelligence Corp which later became Military Intelligence. He retired from the military in June 1969. He was stationed in Austria, Germany, Italy and Vietnam as well as in, California, Colorado, New Jersey, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Loretta Hansen and June Earhart. He is survived by five children, Harold, Ronald, Kathryne, Lawrence and Richard; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

When he retired he traveled with his wife. He hunted and fished whenever he could. We will miss all the salmon he shared with the family.

A memorial service will be held for Herbert at the Willamette National Cemetery on December 2, 2011.
