Born the second son of James Kellogg Sr. and his second wife Martha Clark Johnson (widow of Levi). Charles married Hannah Drake on March 28, 1827 and they lived for several years on Staten Island, NY. Moved to Ann Arbor , MI. in 1833 and later to Hastings MI.
