Thomas Jr. was born to Thomas Elliott Sr. (b. 1757 in Ireland) and Margaret Elliott (b. 1768 in Ireland) who were cousins. MORE INFO--Thomas ELLIOTT Sr. and Margaret ELLIOTT were married in 1788 in Ireland. Margaret's family were some of the Elliott family that were on the ill fated vessel the "Faithful Steward" which sank off the coast of New Jersy - Deleware. Her brother Simon Elliott was the only family to survive. Thomas Elliott Sr. and Margaret Elliott came to the USA in 1790, their voyage took 13 weeks, the first to Washington County, PA and then to Cross Creek Township, Jefferson County, Ohio. Thomas Sr. was called "Honest Tommy" and was chosen magistrate of the township and was a representative to the Ohio Legislature until his death. Thomas had an older brother, William, and a younger brother, Andrew. The brothers of Thomas; William and Andrew, also came to this country and settled in Ohio, but the distance was so great and the roads so bad that the families never became intimately acquainted. These brothers located in Methodist communities and became earnest workers in that church. The distinguished M.E. minister, Charles Elliott, was a son of one of these brothers. Children of Thomas Elliott Sr. and Margaret Elliott were: Simon ELLIOTT, William ELLIOTT, John ELLIOTT, Thomas ELLIOTT Jr., Ann ELLIOTT, Mary ELLIOTT, Charles ELLIOTT, Andrew ELLIOTT, Elizabeth ELLIOTT. Thomas ELLIOTT Sr. was born in 1757 in Near Belfast, Ireland. He died in 1813 in Cross Creek Township Jefferson County, Ohio.

Also, Honest Tommy Elliott was a PRESBYTERIAN...family tradition has it from the Charles Elliott paper that Thomas' brothers who came earlier to America were ME preachers.
