Ethel Mae Wilbur Parks, 90, formerly of Rome, Pa., passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa. Ethel was born in Wysox Township, Pa., the daughter of Manville Paul Wilbur and Clara Almyra Drake Wilbur. She attended the Rome schools and in early years was employed by the E.C. Rice General Store in Rome, the Farmer's National Bank in Rome and by Sayre Lingerie in Sayre, Pa. Ethel was later employed by GTE Sylvania in Towanda from April of 1966 until her retirement in February of 1987. Ethel loved spending time with her family especially when all would gather for Sunday dinners. She enjoyed wallpapering, playing cards, crocheting and quilting with her sisters and friends. Ethel was an avid hunter, bowled for many years and loved watching baseball on TV. She was also involved in many minstrel shows in the Rome, North Orwell and LeRaysville area over the years. Ethel was a member of the Rome Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women's Association and the Osram-Sylvania Women's Club.

Surviving are her children, William Howard Parks and wife Linda Derrick of Andover, Conn., Edward Dale Parks and special friend Carol Dimon of Rome, Cynthia Mae Yoder of Rome, Michelle Ann Parks and husband Jerry Smith of Rome; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Kintner Parks Roberts of Windham Summit; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Floyd Post of Towanda, Ellen and Jim Gunn of Rome; sister-in-law, Shelba Wilbur of Rome; brother-in-law, Norman "Bud" Parks and his wife Marcia; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Manville Norman Parks; brother, Julius Dan Wilbur; sisters, Julia Ann Mincelli, Marian Harvey, Mavis Allis and Edna Welliver.

The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with her grandson, Pastor Terry Parks, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rome Cemetery, Rome, Pa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family suggests that contributions be directed to the Rome Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 189, Rome, PA 18837, in Ethel's memory.
