Marian Louise Wilbur Harvey, 88, widow of Lester Stephen Harvey Sr. of Rome, died Thursday evening, Oct. 9, 2003, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Cherie and Ron L. Jones, in North Orwell. Born May 16, 1915, in Orwell Township, she was a daughter of the late Manville Paul and Clara Almira Drake Wilbur. Marian was a 1933 graduate of Rome High School and in early years assisted her parents on the family farm in Rome Township. On Aug. 12, 1933, Marian married Lester Stephen Harvey. Mrs. Harvey was formerly employed by the Blue Swan in Sayre and was later employed by the Rome Post Office for 16 years. She was a member of the Rome Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women and the Rome Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 26 for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Vigilante Engine Co. Auxiliary of Rome. Marian was a very active member of her community, where she was highly regarded and possessed many good friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her garden and exercise and was an avid walker. Marian was a dedicated Cub Scout den mother in the Rome area and volunteer for the Elder Guild in Towanda and Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. Many will remember her talents especially in baking and artistic wedding cake creations. Marian was gifted in crocheting and as a seamstress and quilter. Her selfless devotion and giving of herself to others was always paramount in her life as she worked to make blankets and mittens and provide a helping hand to those in need. Most of all she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always offered unconditional love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Surviving are two daughters, Anna Lucille Ferguson and her husband, James Ferguson, of Lock Haven, Pa., and Cherie Jones and her husband, Ron L.
