Barbara Durham Chapman lived her life as she died - gracefully. She was a lady in every sense. Barbara was always dignified, beautiful and an example to all what true character is about. Barbara was the owner and founder of Durham Advertising. The company was established in 1971 and remained an active firm until 2009. During those 38 years, she proved to be an advertising powerhouse. In 1992, she received the Huntsville Advertising Federation's Silver Medal Award. The Tennessee Valley Advertising Federation awarded Barbara a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. Barbara started Durham Advertising with one account, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and grew her business to over 50 local, regional and national accounts.
Barbara loved to play golf, travel, and most of all, she loved her best friend and husband of 30 years, Reuben "Buddy" Chapman V. Barbara also cherished her friendships and was always ready with good advice, a kind word or a helping hand. She will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, William Clifford Durham; and husband, Reuben "Buddy" Chapman V.
She is survived by her mother, Juanita Keel Durham; sons, William "Bill" Chapman, Reuben Chapman VI and wife Missy, and King Chapman; daughter, Brandy Hand and husband Mike; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nativity Episcopal in Huntsville. Graveside services will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
