James Paul Wilder Former Clinton police officer

James Paul Wilder, 72, of Clinton, died Monday, July 21, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Wilder was a former police officer with the city of Clinton.
He had also worked as a self-employed barber and owner of A-Plus Barber Shop in Troy, Ohio.
He was born in Paris, Tenn., on April 6, 1925, the son of Paul and Jewel Mae Ashlock Wilder, both now deceased. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war.
Mr. Wilder was a member of Bishopville Baptist Church in Heiskell and a member of Antioch Chapel Masonic Lodge No. 14, F&AM, in Dayton, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Collins Wilder; three daughters, Paulette Hutcheson of Powell, Vivian Johnston of Clinton and Jamie Eaches of Halls; six sons, Charles Wilder of Jackson, Miss., and Jimmy Wilder, Robert Wilder, Johnny Wilder, Dennis Wilder and Paul Wilder, all of Clinton.
Mr. Wilder is also survived by six sisters, Mildred Weaver, Frances Long and Patricia Kanipes, all of Clinton, Louise Dennis of Oak Ridge and Betty Hewitt and Elizabeth Fraker, both of Powell; five brothers, Edward Wilder of Austin, Texas, Melton Wilder and George Wilder, both of Clinton, David Wilder of Kingston and Billy Wilder of Powell; and by nine grandchildren.
The funeral was held Thursday, July 24, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Wade Holbrook and the Rev. Harold Ogle officiating.
A graveside service was to be held at 10:30 this morning, July 25, at McCarty Woodhaven Memory Gardens in Claxton.
