Came west over the Oregon Trail, Stopped in Glenrock, WY First Post Master of Glenrock (1887)and opened a General Store. Moved on west in 1890 to San Pedro, CA. In 1890 Mr. Abbott established the firm of Abbott & Stacy, a real estate business along with Insurance and home construction. He was City Clerk of San Pedro (1906) and was elected a free holder to draft the city charter for San Pedro. Also, a member of the Committee for annexation of San Pedro to the City of Los Angeles. Among his other associations was a F&AM Mason having been raised in a lodge in Malugin Grove, Ill., a member of the Republican Party, Forester of America, Chamber of Commerce of San Pedro, member of the Methodist Church and Notary Public. The Church is now in a corner of the Harbor View Cemetery, moved there from 10th St. in 1950.
