August "Auggie" Spies Jr., 74, Morland, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at his home near Morland.
He was born Jan. 14, 1937, in rural Graham County to August Jacob Spies Sr. and Anna (Braun) Spies.
Survivors include three daughters, Dodie Swenson, Wichita, Gail Thimesch, Goddard, and Susan Sneath, Haysville; two brothers, William "Bill" Spies, Arvada, Colo., and Wilfred Spies, Morris, Okla.; four sisters, Martina Werth, Hays, Margaret Billinger, Zurich, and Ablena Billinger and Elaine Cisneros, both of Omaha, Neb.; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney; burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, St. Peter.
A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, with visitation to follow.
