JOSEPH PAUL IS CALLED IN DEATH
----------
Well Known Citizen Died
Here This Morning -- Funeral Tuesday.
----------

(From Saturday's Daily.)

Joseph Paul, Sr., aged eighty-one years, one of the best known men in this city, died at his home, 1320 South Noble Street, about ten o'clock this morning.

Death came after a serious illness of only two weeks, but he had been in failing health for the past several months. Death was due to a complication of diseases indecent to senility.

Mr. Paul was born in 1835 in New Orleans, La. He moved to Franklin County, Indiana, when he was but six years of age. In 1881 he moved to Shelbyville and had since been a resident of this city.

He was best known here as a gardener, as during his entire residence in this city he tended a truck patch located near his home, and derived his livelihood from the sale of the choice vegetables which he grew.
He was married May 18, 1857, to Miss Mary Nienaber, a native of Franklin County. To this union five children were born, all of whom with the mother survive. They are: Mrs. John Wagner, Mrs. Lena Fastlaben, Louis Paul and Joseph Paul, Jr., of this city, and Mrs James Larmore, of Franklin.

His is also survived by one brother, Jacob Paul, of Franklin County; one half-brother, Louis Etter, and one half-sister, Mrs. Weimer, both of Indianapolis.

Mr. Paul was a life long devoted Catholic and was one of the most faithful attendants at the services of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of this city, of which he was a member.

The funeral services will be held in the St. Joseph church at nine o'clock Tuesday morning, Rev. Fr. Kaelin officiating.

Burial will be made in the St. Joseph Cemetery in charge of Hendrickson and Sleeth.
