was born at Leboanon, Missouri.
R.Q. came to Tulsa after graduating
from the Ecclectic Medical College in
Cincinnati. He also attended Springfield
Atate Normal for pre-med training. Dr.
Atchley served as a intern at Metropolitan
Hospital in New Your City from 1917-1918
and did his residency at Kings County
Hospital in Brooklyn in 1919.
He studied surgery in Vienna during the
summers of 1926 and 1930.
He also served as chief of the emergency
room at Morningside Hospital (now the
Hillcrest Medical Center.)
Dr. Atchley practiced medicine for
50 years, retiring in 1970.
Dr. R.Q. Atchley is survived by a son,
John Ashley, an actor whose films include
"Young Dillenger"; and five grandchildren.
Dr. Atchley's funeral services were
held at the Stanley's Funeral Home Chapel
with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
