While assisting to saw a log on a wagon, the imperfections gave way and the log rolled back, caught his right foot, literally crushing it. Doctors Tow, Benjamin and Ashman of Hudson were called in and amputated the leg below the knee, but from the loss of blood, he being about two miles from home when he was hurt, and his advanced age, it was barely possible that he could live. He was a resident of Boston Township for over thirty years and was a worthy and industrious citizen. He married Olive. He served in the MA Militia under Captain Merril in the 3rd Regiment.
