In 1823 he married Anna Tillinghast, lived on a place he purchased in the town of Russia for three years, when he returned to the old homestead to care for his parents.
He remained here until 1840, added to the home farm, managed a large dairy, but failing health and the desire to give his children greater educational privileges, led him to remove to Hamilton, N.Y. He sold his farm to Benjamin Austin. He died in Hamilton in 1866, his wife still survives at the age of 88.
