CENTRAL KENTUCKY NEWS JOURNAL OBITUARY – 1975
Mr. Charlie G. Martin, son of the late Mr. Jim Henry Martin & Mrs. Lucetie Buley Martin, was born September 2, 1897 in Larue County and departed this life at 7:40 p.m. Friday, April 4 [1975] at the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was 77 years of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church at the time of his death. He united in marriage to Miss Annie Allen, who preceded him in death August 18, 1942. To this union were born 11 children. Surviving are Mrs. Lillie Underwood, Mrs. Bernice Thompson and Mrs. L.B. Meadows, all of Greensburg, Mrs. Ella Watson, Mrs. Dorothy Wright, Mrs. Omie DeSpain and Harlan Martin, all of Louisville, Harrison Martin and Mrs. Katherine Karnes, both of Dallas, TX, and Mrs. Frances Phelps, Oolitic, IN. He united in marriage to Miss Marie Wyatt, October 20, 1947, who survives. To this union were born 12 children. Surviving are: Marshall & Wendell Martin, both of Louisville, Mrs. Arlene Moran and Miss Patsy Martin, both of Campbellsville, Mrs. Betty Potter and Mrs. Elizabeth Sneed, both of Gettysburg, PA, Terry, Pamela, Violet, Arvel & Mary Ruth Martin, all at home. Mr. Martin is also survived by: 1 sister, Mrs. Bessie Dotson, Campbellsville, 44 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 6 with burial in the Zion Cemetery in Taylor County. Revs. Thurman Eaton and James Parker officiated. Pallbearers: Gary Watson, Delbert Underwood, Larry Martin, Glenn DeSpain, William Thompson and Shelby Underwood.
