He was the son of John Kimball and Sarah Wilson Kimball. He served in the Revolutionary War in Captain Nathaniel Wilson's Company, Colonel Thomas Stickney's 11th New Hampshire Militia Regiment, General John Stark's Brigade from 22 Jul 1777 to 22 Sep 1777. He was at the Battle of Bennington, 16 Aug 1777.

He married to Mehitable Beede on 4 Jul 1776. She was born 25 Dec 1752 in Brentwood, Rockingham County, NH and died in 1826 in Gilmanton, Belknap County, NH. They had eight children, Caleb 10 Apr 1777, Mehitable 14 Mar 1779, Nathaniel 25 May 1781, John 10 Feb 1783, Andrew 25 Apr 1785, Hezekiah 1 Jun 1787, Dolly 27 May 1789, and Joseph 11 Jan 1796.
