Luretta was the fourth child born out of seven to Henry Jackson and Sarah Jane "Cathran or Cauthorn" Lutz. She married Ira Erastas Kington on April 29, 1874 in Hancock County, Illinois. Together they had three sons: James William, Oscar Elan and Huber Durando. Ira her husband survives.

Also surviving are three sons, two brothers, a sister and several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
