UNADILLA FORKS
HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT DIES

Russell G. Cornell, 63, highway
superintendent in the Town of
Plainfield for the past 19 years,
died unexpectedly Tuesday, after
a heart attack. He was working
in the Summit Lake area at the
time.
He was born in West Laurens,
son of Gervas and Minnie Holiday
Cornell. He attended schools in
West Laurens and graduated from
Morris High School.
He married Grace Garlick, of
New Berlin, in 1921, and for a time
operated the Cornell homestead
farm. In 1931, the couple moved to
Unadilla Forks. He was a member
of the Friends Church and attended
the Unadilla Forks Baptist
Church.
Besides his wife he leaves a son,
Dr. Richard Cornell, Tallahassee
Florida; a daughter, Mrs. Robert
Louis, Fanwood, N.J.; a sister,
Mrs. Leo Culver, Ferndale, Mich.,
and a brother, Stanley Cornell, of
Gulfport, Florida.
The funeral will be at 2 Friday
from the Wilcox Funeral Home,
West Winfield, with the Rev. Jack
Corey, pastor of the Unadilla
Forks Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Hillington Cemetery,
Morris.
