Than a Half Century
Succumbs at Home
FUNERAL IS MONDAY
Frank DeForrest Acker, 75, a
prominent resident of this city for
more than a half century and a
retired railroad engineer, died yesterday
at 7:10 p.m. at his home,
93 High street.
Mr. Acker had been in ill health
for some time but his condition
had not been considered serious
until about six weeks ago when he
became confined to his bed.
New York State Native.
He was born in Georgetown, N. Y.,
September 12, 1860, and came
to Bradford at the age of 20. Mr.
Acker accepted employment with
the Erie railroad shortly after
arriving here and for 55 years remained
in the employ of the railroad
as engineer. He retired some
eight years ago .
Well known throughout this
county Mr. Acker enjoyed a wide
circle of friends. He was a lifelong
member of the First Presbyterian
church. Bradford Lodge , No.
411, Odd fellows, and the Brotherhood
of Locomotive Engineers of this city.
Rites Moaday Afternoon.
Surviving Mr. Acker are his wife,
Mrs. Elizabeth Acker; one daughter,
Mrs. Howard Sears of this
city; two grandchildren, Betty and
Dean Sears of this city, and one
brother, Harold Acker of Binghamton,N. Y.
The body was taken in charge by
the Koch funeral home and will be
taken to the home today where
funeral services will be held Monday
afternoon at 2 o'clock. The
Rev. Dr. F. Dean Miller, pastor of
the First Presbyterian church , will
officiate. Burial will be in the
family plot in Oak Hill cemetery.
