Ann Kent Dennis was born in New York in 1918 and passed away at her home in Cambria, Ca. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the age of 93.

During her life, Ann lived in New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Arizona and California, each move was a new adventure.

As a 78- year-old widow she explored the Central Coast alone and made a home for herself in Cambria.

She was a retired teacher and school librarian and held bachelor's and master's degrees.

Ann loved travel, reading and theater, and was a writer of fiction and poetry.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was an inspiration to her family through her interests in education and the arts as well as her spirit of independence and adventure. Ann loved her life in Cambria with her beloved dog Suzie and treasured her many friends.

At age 93 she was leading a weekly Stretchercize class, walked daily with friends and was very active in her local organizations.

She was a past president of the Cambria Community Council, a charter member of The Rough Writers, an officer of Friends of the Cambria Library, and member of University Women.

Her husband John A. "Jack" Dennis preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sons, John A. "Jad" Dennis, Jr. and his wife Janice of Fresno and Thomas K. Dennis and his fiancée Jennifer Stocks of Pacific Palisades; granddaughters, Erin Dennis Vivion and her husband Micah and Amanda Kate Dennis; and great-grandson, Elliot August Vivion all of San Francisco.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Joslyn Center in Cambria on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 1:30 p.m.
