Born in Scranton, son of the late William Francis Woodbridge and Thelma Weber Woodbridge, he was a member of St. Patrick's Church and was educated in Scranton public schools. He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. Before retirement, he was employed by Williams Bakery. John was a member of the bakers union. He was an avid sports fan.
Surviving are two stepsons, Charles Keller and wife, Elizabeth, Olyphant; and James Keller and wife, Pam, Tunkhannock; three stepdaughters, Mary Lou Krause; Susan Pierson and husband, Harry; and Joann Merrigan and husband, Richard, all of Scranton; a stepgrandson, Joseph Al Keller; a brother, Eddie Woodbridge and wife, Carol, Scranton; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Woodbridge; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Patrick's Church, Jackson Street, Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
