NEW HOPE – David W. McPeters, 81, Rt. 1, New Hope, died Thursday afternoon at Moore's Rest Home in Huntsville after a long illness. A funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Old Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Stewart and Rev. James Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery with Blythe Funeral Home of New Hope in charge.
Mr. McPeters was a native of Jackson County, a retired farmer, former member of Woodman of the World, and had lived near New Hope all of his life.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Lula McPeters; five sons, Oliver, Gardner and J.C. McPeters, all of New Hope, Harold McPeters, Clanton and Wylie McPeters, U.S. Army; six daughters, Mrs. Copeland Anderson, Gurley, Mrs. Odell Blanton, Huntsville, Mrs. Inez Sneed, New Hope, Mrs. Mattie Bea Riggins, Ardmore, Tenn., and Mrs. Melvin Hornbuckle, Montgomery; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Lillie Smith, Mrs. Annie Turner, and Mrs. Nora Terry, all of Huntsville; two sisters, Mrs. Bettie Childers and Mrs. Roxie Maples, both of New Hope; two brothers, Virgil McPeters, Huntsville, and Ernest McPeters, St. Louis, Mo.; 54 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
