Joan Bailey Segraves, 89, formerly of Flora, died Tuesday, Dec 27, 2011 at 10:05pm, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. She had lived for 52 years in Flora, and then resided with her daughter for 2 years, and at Milner Assisted Living in Rossville for 2 years, before being admitted to St. Elizabeth Healthcare on Dec 9. She was born Aug 2, 1922 in Cass Co., IN, to the late Arbie & Edith Dimmitt Bailey. Her marriage was to Robert C. Segraves at the Salem Church in Walton, IN, on June 28, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Sept 3, 2001. She was a 1940 graduate of Logansport High School. She worked for many years in the kitchen at Carroll Consolidated High School, and was a homemaker. She was a founding member of New Hope Community Church, Flora; and a charter member of the Delta Theta Chi Sorority, Flora. She dearly loved her children, and all of her grandchildren, spending time with them, and participating in their activities.
Surviving: daughters, Cindy & Rev Deke Jones, Lafayette, Pam Porter, Mechanicsburg, PA; son, Kirk & Mary Segraves, Sugar Land, TX; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a brother, Bill Bailey; son-in-law, Dave Porter.
