Doris Kennedy Frye

MANSFIELD: Genealogy was Doris Frye's main hobby and interest. She loved researching family history with the hope of better understanding her family's heritage and life story. Leaving a legacy of unconditional love, Doris' greatest trait was that of devoted wife and loving mother. On Wednesday December 28, 2011 Doris Kennedy Frye passed away in Mansfield MedCentral Hospital. She was 90.

She was born February 27, 1921 in Mansfield the daughter of Eugene and Marie (Martin) Kennedy and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1939.

On June 8, 1941 she married Richard Frye and the two raised their family of two sons and two daughters here in Mansfield.

Doris was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, DAR- Jared Mansfield Chapter, and the Ohio Genealogical Society.

Doris loved researching information on the Frye and Kennedy families. She even published three volumes of Frye family history.

She is survived by her sons Richard Frye Jr., of South San Francisco, California and Michael (Sandra) Frye of Ontario; daughters Judith Frye of Madison, Wisconsin, and Peggy (Fred) White of Thornville; grandchildren Mark Richard Frye of Mansfield, Steven Michael Frye of Chicago, and Aaron Michael (Tara) White of Mansfield; sister Thelma Miller of Norwalk; nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard E. Frye on January 15, 2010, and her brother-in-law Paul Miller.

The Frye family will receive friends Saturday December 31, 2011 from 1pm-2:30pm in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where her funeral will be held at 2:30pm. The Rev. Dr. Pentti Maki will officiate. Burial will be held in Mansfield Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Ohio Genealogical Society may be made at the funeral home.
