WELCH -- At his home near Jerico, in Jacksonville Township Oct 14th, [sic-13th], 1894, Thomas Welch, in his 84th year.
Deceased was born in Ireland and came to this country when a young man. He located in New York State where he lived for a number of years. There he met and married Miss Anna McCusker, they came to this county about 38 years ago and licated in Jacksonville Township where by dint of honest toil they made for themselves the wherewith to enjoy a comfortable old age. Deceased was a man of quiet habits who made many friends and no enemies.
He died after receiving the last rights of the holy Catholic Church of which he had been all his life a devout member. His remains were followed to their last resting place by one of the largest funerals known in this county, there being about one hundred and ten teams in attendance, which fact will tell more than anything we can say of the esteem in which deceased was held by all who knew him. Deceased leaves a wife and six children, three sons and three daughters to mourn his departure. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
