She was born September 3, 1931 in Dalzell, South Dakota. Her family moved to Skagit Valley in 1934. She graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1950.
She was married to Roy Lee Jones from 1948-1950. Mr. Jones died in 2007. She was married to Lawrence E. Adamek from 1951-1998. Mr. Adamek died in 1998. In 2001 she married Del Vey.
Joyce worked as a waitress for various restaurants in Skagit Valley. She was a charter member of Independent Order of Foresters of Burlington, and a longtime member of American Legion Aux. Post 91 in Burlington.
In her teenage years she competed in Dance Skating. In 1976 she participated in the Bicentennial Pony Express Ride across the country. She liked knitting and gardening.
Survivors include husband, Del Vey, of Mount Vernon; brother, David Owens, of Bow; daughters, Linda (George) Henson, of Sedro-Woolley, Dorothy (John) Walker, of Burlington, and Carol Golden, of Cheney; son, William Adamek, of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Muriel Owens; older brother, William Owens; and husbands, Roy Jones and Lawrence Adamek.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hulbush Funeral Home, 281 South Burlington Blvd., Burlington.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Hulbush Funeral Home, followed by interment in Burlington Cemetery. Pastor George Henson presiding.
