Gary L. Carter, 53, of Bryan, Texas, formerly of Ava, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, in St. Joseph Regional Health Care Center in Bryan. Services will be in Wilson's Fneral Home in Ava, with the Rev. George Knight officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home; burial will be in Pleasant Hill Christian Cemetery in Murphysboro.
He was born Aug. 4, 1947, in Ava to Lavern and Kathleen (Morgan) Carter. Survivors include his father, of Bryan; one brother, Ricky Carter of Marion; aunts and uncles, Donald and Joan Carter of Murphysboro, Ruby and George Knight of Carmi, and Evelyn McBride, Leon Brown, Jack and Linda Brown, and Betty and Wayne Claussen of Ava.
His mother and one brother, Billy Carter, preceded him in death.
