Catherine was a daughter of James McMonigle (1768?-1814/20) and Osse Jacobs (1773-1814/20).
Catherine married Irwin Applegate, Sr. (1806-1902) on September 4, 1827 in Elizabeth, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. They had 11 identified children.
Based on best available information, Catherine and her family migrated to Harrison County, Indiana from Allegheny County, Pennsylvania by November 1843.
Research has shown that both the birth year and death year shown on her grave marker are probably incorrect based on available records and birth data for her siblings. The most accurate dates are shown in this memorial. The current marker was apparently placed several years after her death and the dates were probably estimated by the informant.
