Allene "Sunnie" Haight went to Heaven Friday, 16 Dec 2011. Born in Wewowka, OK 12 Nov 1925 she moved with her family to California where she attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School graduating in 1944. She was the first person in her family to graduate from college, earning her teaching degree at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA. Sunnie was intelligent, elegant, sophisticated and a gourmet cook.
She loved entertaining her family during the holidays, especially at Christmas, which was her favorite time of the year. A giving soul, she loved giving gifts and never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She had strong conservative values. A lifelong supporter of ethical treatment of animals and a kind loving dedicated dog owner.
Sunnie is survived by her husband Bill Haight of Ridgecrest, CA, her brother Robert Porter of Yucca Valley, CA, son Steve Holston of Long Beach, CA, daughter Sherry Portillo of Squaw Valley, CA and her legacy through her grandson Ethan Holston and great-grandson Logan. Her husband's three children also cared deeply for Sunnie and appreciated her relationship with their father, Bill. Still beautiful, active and rapier witted at 86, we are shocked and saddened to lose her and the world will be a lesser place without her. Unquestionably, Sunnie was special to her friends and family and she will be missed.
Services were held at Holland and Lyons Mortuary.
