Native Staten Islander Abraham Dunn, 100, the loving patriarch of three generations, died Thursday at his home in Lakeworth, Florida.

Born and raised in New Brighton, he spent much of his life in West Brighton. He moved to Florida ten years ago.

Mr. Dunn served in the U.S. Army military police during World War II, stationed stateside.

He had owned Crown Muffler in Port Richmond and was a partner in Dunn Brother Appliances in West Brighton.

Mr. Dunn was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Jewish War Veterans.

He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and often talked about the time he saw Babe Ruth play. He also followed the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins.

Mr. Dunn enjoyed playing cards and was the last surviving member of a regular gin game.

His memory was sharp — he never forgot a phone number or a car he serviced — and he was quick to tell people that he voted for Franklin Delano Roosevelt four times.

He also was somewhat of a walking history book on life in the borough a century ago. He recently shared those stories with his grandchildren, recalling the first traffic light installed here and what Silver Lake looked like before the park and golf course.

"He saw a lot of changes," said his son, Chuck Dunn.

Mr. Dunn's wife, the former Dorothy Feurestein, died in 2001 after sixty-two years of marriage.

Surviving, along with his son, Chuck, are his son, Howard; two sisters, Miriam Mank and Hilda Botwinick; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. in the Menorah Chapels, New Springville.
Burial will follow in Baron Hirsch Cemetery, Graniteville.
