"Katie" was born August 3, 1890 in Holstein, Russia to Fred and Anna Kelln RUF. She died April 9, 1968 in Shattuck, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years. She came to America with her parents in 1898. Their first home was in Lehigh, Kansas. In 1901 the family moved with a train load of other German settlers to the Shattuck area. On July 21, 1910 she was married to George HERBER and to this union was born seven sons. Katie and George worked very hard on the farm to give their sons the best Christian training and education possible. Services were conducted by Pastor Jake Knight, Shattuck SDA Church. Their children are: David, Alex, Harry, William "Bill", Fritz, Leo and Raymond.
