C. OELTJENBRUNS FUNERAL MONDAY

Funeral services for Carl Oeltjenbruns, longtime resident of Phillips County, were held Monday afternoon at the Holyoke Methodist church, with Rev. J. Wilson Branstetter in charge. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park.

Mr. Oeltjenbruns,* a retired farmer, passed away April 6 at his home in Holyoke following an illness of four days. He was 81 years old, but he remained quite active until a few days before his death. He drove his own car until a few months ago.

Carl Oeltjenbruns, a son of Christian B. and Margareta Louis Luebben Oeltjenbruns, was born January 1, 1874 at Tddelloh, Germany. With his brother, Fred, he came to the United States in 1889 when he was 15 years old. He first settled at Roca, Nebraska and later worked in Lincoln, Nebraska for a number of years. He also lived at Plainview, Nebraska for a time.

On April 20, 1911 he was united in marriage with Katie Rademeker [Rademacher] at Hallam, Nebraska and they moved to Phillips County that year. They established their home on a farm northwest of Amherst and resided there until moving to Holyoke in 1939. The Oeltjenbruns home has been here since that time.

Mr. Oeltjenbruns was a member of the Lutheran church, having been confirmed in the church in Germany in 1888.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Sophie Miles, Haxtun, and Mrs. Annie Schell, Roca, Nebraska; one son, Herman Carl Oeltjenbruns, Delta, Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Charlton and Mrs. Sophie Gansmer, both of Lincoln, Nebraska; three brothers, Henry, Washogual, Washington, Richard, Plainview, Nebraska, and August, Anaheim, California; 17 grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and many other relatives.
