Francis attended Green Garden Lutheran Country School, and graduated from Newman Grove High School. She was married to Howard Effland, and the couple was blessed with a son, Bruce. Francis later married Lester Tessum at "The Little Brown Church In The Vale" in Iowa, and they were blessed with a daughter, Candice. Francis and Lester lived various places: Carlsbad and Artesia, New Mexico; Lodi, California; Preston, Minnesota; Phoenix and Prescott, Arizona. The couple then retired to Norfolk, Nebraska, where they were members of Christ Lutheran Church.
Francis enjoyed reading and traveling, but most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren.
Francis is survived by: son, Bruce (Barb) Effland of Thornton, Colorado; daughter, Candice (Rodney) Sader of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; grandchildren, Brittnie (Chris) Munson, Brandon (Melissa) Effland, Brooke (Matt) Rillos, Aaron Sader; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Framcis was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Bertha Zessin; husband, Lester Tessum; three brothers; and three sisters.
Burial was in the New Lutheran Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.
