Louvise Keller married John Fremont Smith July 3, 1888 at West Plains, Mo. The Smith's had five children : Cleo, Leona, Ralph, Johnny and Cecil, all of Emporia. Note: (Cecil died in 1916 of TB).
After John's death, Louie became a Practical Nurse.
Louie was a **quilter**.
Ralph used to tell that "Mother would only cook one possum a year."

"Mrs. Louie Smith, who lived with her son, Cleo Smith at 18 East Ninth, died this morning (02-03-1950) at 7:50 o'clock in Newman Memorial County hospital. No funeral arrangements have been made.
Mrs. Smith was born in Iowa, September 29, 1870, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Kellar (sic). She came to Emporia in 1892, and was married to John F. Smith in West Plains, Mo., July 30, 1887. He died in Emporia in 1915.
She is survived by three sons, Cleo of 18 East Ninth, Ralph of 510 Cottonwood, and John of Portland, Oregon; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur McGowan of St. Joseph, Mo; three granddaughters, two grandsons, and four great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Cecil Prinz, preceeded her in death in 1924.
She was a member of the Royal Neighbors lodge."
