MRS. JEMIMA MOWERY

Mrs. Jemima Elizabeth Mowery, 85, native of Greenup co, passed away Sunday at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Florence Horsley, 1327 Mound st.
A daughter of the late Rev. George W. Scaggs and Mrs. Polly Ann Scaggs, she was born Sept. 9, 1861. In 1878, she was married to George W. Mowery in Carter co. He died in 1935. They moved from Kentucky to Ohio in 1920.
Surviving are 11 children, Edward, Leonard, John D. and Richard of Portsmouth, Walter and Arthur of New Boston, Wince of Rubyville, Daulton and Mrs. Zella Newman of Woods Ridge, Joseph of Idaho and Estel of Niles, O. She also leaves a number of grandchildren; a brother, James Scaggs of West Virginia, and three sisters, Mrs. laura Loore of Carter co, Mrs. Ella McGinnis of the West side and Mrs. Minnie Pruitt of Garrison. A son, Stanley died in 1913.
Mrs. Mowery was a member of the Christian church the last 70 years.
The body is at the Sowards' funeral home pending funeral arrangements. Interment will be in Coal Grove.
