Woodrow (Woody) Taylor, 70, 6121 W. Penrod Road, died Monday in The Woodlands Nursing Home after a long illneass.

Mr. Taylor was born in Summitville, Tenn., and came to Muncie as a child. He worked for 30 years as a machine operator at Warner Gear Division (now Borg-Warner Automotive) before retiring in 1977.

He attended Muncie schools and was a member of South Central Church of Christ, United Auto Workers Local 287 and the Warner Gear Sympathy Club.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Olive L. Jent Taylor; a daughter, Linda C. Taylor Horning (husband-Frederick), Farmland; three sisters, Nell St. John and Irene Tenpenny, both of Muncie, and Edith Mertz (husband-William), Corunna; two grandchildren, Sonya R. Armstrong (husband-David S.), Albany, and Erick D. Horning, Farmland; a great-grandchild, D.J. Armstrong, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Sarah Jones Taylor; a sister, Carrie Miller; and two brothers, Edward L. and Charles Taylor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel, with minister Gary Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
