Kentucky Governor. He served as Governor of Kentucky from 1967 to 1971. He had many accomplishments in his career including the elimination of tax on prescription drugs and establishing the University of Louisville as a state college. A native and resident of Barren County Kentucky, he was the last republican to serve in the seat as governor until December, 2003 when Dr. Ernie Fletcher was elected. His last public appearance publicly was at Governor Fletcher's inauguration.
