He served an LDS mission in Germany.
He met his lifelong sweetheart, Trudy Wayman, and they were married in 1967 in the Logan LDS Temple. Upon graduation and because of his childhood love of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the young Yeates family moved to Santa Monica, Calif., where Craig worked as an auditor for Arthur Andersen & Co.
Settling in Camarillo in 1978, Craig was involved with youth sports programs and the Boy Scouts of America and assisted dozens of boys in attaining their Eagle Scout rank for over 27 years. His later professional years were spent working as a revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Service. He retired in 2008.
Craig was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. He set an example of service to others throughout his life.
His father, Lue; sister, Lori; and grandson, Jacob, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy, of Camarillo; children, Gary (Jennifer) of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Jennifer (Andy) Kelly of Park City, Utah, Heidi (Herman) Posada of Valencia, Calif., and Michael (Amy) of Camarillo; mother, Barbara Yeates of Logan, Utah; and brother, Brent (Vicky) of North Logan, Utah, and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, with a viewing at 9:30 a.m. at the Camarillo 2nd Ward, 1201 Paseo Camarillo Drive in Camarillo, Calif. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Logan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Valley Hospital Hyperbaric Unit in Craig's name through the St. John's Health Care Foundation, 1600 North Rose Avenue, Oxnard, CA 93030.
